Mozartland

Presentation

Mozartland is a concert staged for the whole family. The protagonists are two brothers, Nannerl and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, on a rainy afternoon during their musical tour of Europe. The children will play at theater on the basis of folk tales from their country: “The Frog Prince”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Hansel and Gretel” and “The Bremen Musicians”. The play and fantasy of the two little artists will help us understand that art is a very useful tool to improve the world and turn it into a place full of beauty, truth and goodness.

Brothers Wolfgang and Nannerl Mozart enter into the playroom of their house in Salzburg, in the middle of a musical party, and discover that something very special has happened: a lot of forest rabbits have entered the room!

The two children play with the rabbits and bring into their game the main characters of the stories they liked best: the frog, the pampered princess, the king, the hood, the wolf, the grandmother, Hansel and Grettel, the witch and even Bremen musicians.

With their game, the two Mozart brothers will try to transform the stories of the tales and their characters into beauty, truth and goodness, in the same way that, years later, Wolfgang does with his music.

“Nowadays it goes without saying that family theater is of quality and even more so if it comes from the Princep Totilau company. However, although it may be obvious, I want to focus on the combined elements just enough so that the show arouses interest from the beginning to the end.

The flute quartet has made me feel like a symphony orchestra with “themes” (well, fragments…) quite well known and very well chosen (very much, eh!) to stage this chamber concert by quartet, flute and actors. Or, if you prefer, a chamber musical theater piece. That is to say, the quartet and the actors’ performance have combined various disciplines that have turned out to be a perfect fusion (they have not accompanied, they have acted as a “camera”). Little Mozart knew how to give tickets to the quartet and the girl who played with him was his older sister that many people still don’t know. Yes, Wolfgang had a sister (as much a “prodigy” as he was) who was called Ana Maria (Nannerl by friends).

The initially expressionless masks have come to life from the actors’ movements. Really, how can there be so much expressiveness and communication from static faces?

I’m not talking about the plot (you can consult) although beyond the stories that come to life, I see two brothers who, due to their situation, had to share many “dead” moments of their childhood.

But I could say more, I limit myself to highlighting that the job (well done) can be done in many ways but in this case, the function is perfect and you can get all the juice that is necessary.

Family work for children aged three, five, ten and grandmothers. There is an audience that can follow everything. Others, perhaps, will “freak out” with the music and others will stay with the bunnies and the frog who wanted a kiss from the “spoiled” princess who had a golden ball.”
