Monsieur Croche

Presentation

“Monsieur Croche” is a show of actors, puppets and masks for children, with Claude Debussy piano music performed live.

In this show, we stage an imaginary dream in which the composer Claude Debussy and his wife, Emma Bardac, travel to a fantastic island. In this charmed place of mermaids, exotic birds, giant insects and other magical beings, the composer finds inspiration to create new music. After this experience, the couple will return to the Paris of the Belle Époque, from where Debussy over the years will spread his music around the world.

With the intention of bringing Debussy’s music closer to children from the age of 3, we have created a show whose central action is the search for freedom in both children and artists, drawing a parallel between the discovery of the world that takes place in infancy and artistic creation. The first impressions that nature awakens in a child are extraordinarily powerful but, unfortunately, over the course of life they fade away, turning infancy into a lost paradise. Only dreams or artists keep us linked to these primitive impressions. That is why we have conceived our show as an artist’s dream.
